Another day another star wearing a Prayer Bracelet (also called Chotki or Komboskini).
Today in this post its Pop star James Blunt, in the first photo he is even wearing two Prayer Bracelets. It seems that he is wearing them in private life too.
For the people who do not know him:

Using the Orthodox Prayer Rope - Prayer Bracelet

I found this great article on the use of the Orthodox Prayer Rope also called Chotki or Komboskini . I hope you enjoy it.

There are two ways we can pray using the prayer rope:
At any time of the day when we have free time, without being seen by anyone, secretly, we hold the prayer rope with our left or right hand and move from knot to knot with our thumb whispering simultaneously or meditating upon the prayer: "Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me" or "Most Holy Theotokos save us".

At the time of our regular prayer, when we pray following the rule of prayer that our spiritual father has told us to follow, we hold the prayer rope with our left hand between the thumb and the index finger and move from knot to knot. At each knot we simultaneously do two things: i) with our right hand we make the sign of the cross over ourselves and ii) we say the prayer "Lord Jesus Christ have mercy on me". When we finish with all the knots of the prayer rope, we continue following the same procedure, for as many times as our spiritual father has told us to.

We hope that all our brothers and sisters in Christ will be helped by this little book, which is the result of the experience of an anonymous Monk of the Holy Mountain Athos. We also hope that everyone will use the prayer rope in the way our Holy Fathers have taught us, even if one lives in a society and not in a monastery.

Prayer Bracelet - Basketball player Vlade Divac wearing Red Bracelet

The retired superstar basketball player Vlade Divac at his retirement ceremony in 2009 at "The Kings". Vlade is wearing a red orthodox prayer bracelet. He is often seen wearing Orthodox prayer bracelets, some of his team mates have also started to wear them.
Vlade Divac became famous playing for the LA Lakers and later for "The Kings".
He is one one of six players in NBA history to record 13,000 points, 9,000 rebounds, 3,000 assists and 1,500 blocked shots, along with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett and Hakeem Olajuwon. Divac is also the only NBA player born and trained outside of the United States to play in over 1,000 games in the NBA. On August 20, 2010, Divac was inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in recognition of his play in international competition.

Prayer Bracelet - The Lestovka

The Lestovka is a less known orthodox prayer rope. It was used in old Russia and is still used by Russian old believers today, such as the Russian Orthodox Oldritualist Church.
The lestovka is traditionally constructed of leather, with "steps" made by looping leather around small twig sections. It has a total of 109 "steps" - small loops or knots, unevenly grouped. Lestovkas produced today are often made of vinyl or PVC, and the twig sections are today often replaced with rolls of paper, rubber or even plastic. Most lestovkas are joined to form a large loop, but the older variant, which is a simple rope unjoined at the ends, may still occasionally be found. See full info here.
Although not so common today, it still is a beautiful prayer rope and can still be bought in Russia. Because it comes in many forms with different prints and woven patterns incorporated on them people have started collecting them.

Prayer Bracelet - Some prayer necklaces come with a tassel

The Orthodox prayer necklace sometimes has a tassel on the end of the woven cross. These prayer necklaces have 100 or 300 knots and are often black but they do come in other colors. In Greece these type of prayer ropes are most common. The other countries only have the woven cross without the tassel on the end. These tassels are not found on prayer bracelets.
