Madonna The Religious Necklace Trendsetter

The Queen of Pop started rosary fashion back in her Like A Virgin time. Now it’s back in the form of religious bracelets and necklaces, usually with a cross pendant or any other symbol related to a certain religion. In this photo, we can see Madonna wearing tinted shades, a plain white tee, black belt, denim pants and most importantly, a cross around her neck. It’s not the first time she posed with religious jewelry. Some of her pictures show Madonna dressed in a wedding gown, accessorized with a cross necklace, while other pictures show her wearing a red kaballah bracelet.
Also labeled as Material Girl, setting a trend such as religious bracelets make her not just a pop star but a fashion icon as well. Fellow celebrities especially the young ones like Katie Vanessa Hudgens, Taylor Momsen, and Justin Bieber have also discovered what a rosary necklace can do to their outfits. Madonna in 1985 Wearing a Bunch of Religious Necklaces

Going way back to 1985, Madonna in her prime! We can see that this Queen of Pop was (and still is) into religious necklaces. She was among the first celebrities to wear a religious necklace as part of her fashion style.
We can see that she combines Rosary Necklaces with flamboyant cross necklaces. And if you look closer you even see a Star of David necklace.
There is no doubt about it, Madonna has started this religious necklace hype many years ago. Now we see Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Taylor Momsen, Pixie Lott and many more celebrities wearing religious necklaces.

Madonna in the 80s wearing Rosary Necklace

We are going way back to the 80s when pop sensation Madonna was in the center of the spotlight. A Queen of Pop was born and with her extravagant appearance (remember it was the 80s) she set the teenage fashion hype of the 80s.
Catholic churches were shocked to see her wearing Rosaries and other religious necklaces. It sort of became Madonna's trademark. And now in the year 2011, so many years later the rosary is still a hype and Madonna still wears them. A true Icon of the 80s.
